Hammer those Scammers!

I found this posting today on Craigslist, and I want to thank this person for their post. He stuck it in the middle of the admin/office jobs section. One of those moments where the world opens up to you, and you begin to see how connected we are as people, as job hunters. [I'm being intentionally over-dramatic...] For your reading pleasure and entertainment, open this link in a new tab, press play, then scroll down and read this post from Craigslist Nashville.

To all the other people on here looking for a job, I know you have to be as sick as I am of these false ads and ads that are being copied from other cities. I don't know what these people who are doing this are gaining, but it takes up a good amount of time to read each of these. Sometimes it is obvious that the ads are copied because they are not smart enough to realize that some of the ads list the cities in the ad itself. I am asking all of you to contact CL as I have and ask them to clean our beloved CL up. Also, if an email comes back and asks for your credit report, help us all out and let us know. Also, flag the ad.

One thing I have noticed, especially lately, is that the title is missing a location on a lot of these ads. BEWARE! That should send up a red flag. Also, look at the ridiculous numbers in the compensation line. Please lets help each other out people. Contact CL and ask for their help and also lets let everyone know when there is a scam. Maybe we can work together to make this better for all.

Good luck in your job hunt!

  2. I once replied to a woman's posting wanting someone with "skills" to paint whimsical butterflies on her daughter's walls. She wanted proof that I had these skills so I sent photos to her of some of my illustration work. I never heard back and for all I know she has sold my work to the New Yorker and is flitting around like a butterfly amidst her cash. I will hope she just didn't get around to me :) Craigslist has attributed to some bummed out moments in my life. Bryan nabbed the job at the B&B in Savannah though, via Craig, so you win some you loose some I suppose.
