Snow Daze

All things SNOW from Nashville--

It's yet another Snow Day here, so I'm in for the day, cooking and cleaning and blogging. I really wanted to make a Chocolate Meringue Pie today for Adam and myself. A sort of revenge/redemption Chocolate Meringue Pie. (Last time I made one the meringue looked like very frothy yellow water...yuck). So I made one, and it's cooling right now. It looks like PERFECTION! We'll taste it in a bit...

Back in December the Hermitage Hotel (where Adam valets) was going to host a staff Christmas party. Employees could bring guests, and each person got free (delicious) dinner and two free drinks (soda or adult beverage). So, we were excited, right? Except that the night of the party was our first big freeze-over/snow of Nashville winter. Thus, the party was cancelled. Boo! In true 5-star hotel fashion, they rescheduled the party for everyone in January. We went a few weeks ago, and it was so fun! Especially since most of my friends work at the hotel. Here's some pics:

Adam and I all decked out!

If we look excited it's because we just ate free food!!
(Speaking of the Hermitage Hotel, I work there now! Well, very very part-time in the gift shop, Rachel's Gifts. Adam knows the manager there, and she hooked me up with some fill-in work. The training was super easy and fast, so I'm making some money while I wait on my permanent job! Here's to intermediate work and temporary jobs and paying the bills...Cheers!)

This winter in Nash has been so bizarre. I mean, it's fifty degrees one day, twenty the next, and two days later we have a snow storm that hazards up roads for a good three days. It is insane going back and forth, back and forth! We've gotten five winter storms so far this winter, and every time without fail the roads get so dang icy. Sure, the highways are clear, but they forget about all the backroads I have to drive before I get to them. Exhibit A:

It's a dangerous world out there...(for us Southern winter drivers). I literally left my car sticking out in the road four feet because I couldn't get it in the driveway. It's embarassing. So instead of embarassing myself anymore, I will be staying home to celebrate snow days! (Some call that unemployment, but I'm trying to be more optimistic...) Here's what Adam and I did last Snow Day:

Tiniest Snowman
Our lunch was cooking for 15 mins in the oven, so we had limited time to create a masterpiece.

I know I'm twenty-three, and I should be dragging myself out of bed--even on a Snow Day--to go to work or to do something useful. I know. But I do all those adult things a lot, and I think sometimes you have to take fifteen minutes to go build a snowman. Snowgirl. Whatever. I mean, look what I woke up to and tell me you wouldn't have gone back to bed, too:

Well, that's all I've got for today. Love you all!
